Hope, Betrayal and Cynicism: The Fake Profile Effect Cycle

We all remember our first encounter with a lusty sex goddess so willing and FUCKING HOT on HotMatch.com. Your self-esteem, confidence in online hookups, and penises leapt joyously the first time lickmepussbabe "spanked" us. Reason and caution mysteriously absent, a surreal sense of dreams-coming-true pervaded, and quickly decayed into very real shame and anger, and left a man wiser humbled and more cynnical.
Maybe you're one of guys cool enough to have been immune to such trickery from day one but I think it's safe to say, ya'll are in the minority. I know you all have some input on this issue. Some topics on the theme of fake profiles I think would be interesting/helpful are
